Thank you for Supporting
Miss Saigon
Palikū Theatre at Windward Community College proudly presents the hit Broadway musical Miss Saigon, opening Friday, October 3rd, directed by Ron Bright. The company features three people associated with professional productions: Jade Stice, who played Ellen in the New York production will reprise her role as the American wife of Chris, joined by Michael Scott Bright, who toured nationally with the show, playing Chris, the U.S. Marine who becomes involved in the show’s central love triangle. Michael’s wife Jade Anguay Bright, also part of the Miss Saigon National Tour, is the choreographer and swing performer for the show here at Paliku Theatre. Clarke Bright is Musical Director for the stunning, sung-through score.
The stellar cast also features opera performer Kawika McGuire as Chris’ Marine friend John, singing the stirring second act song “Bui Doi,” Punahou student Brittany Browning as Kim, the young girl who falls in love with Chris, and stage veteran and children’s book author Leonard Villanueva as The Engineer, the scheming nightclub impresario who sings about his “American Dream.” Thuy, the spurned suitor of Kim is portrayed by Les Ceballos, who is glee club director at Kamehameha Schools and Gigi, the bar girl with the “Movie in my Mind” will be played by Erin Kim, seen recently by Honolulu audiences as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
Costumes are being created by award-winning designer Evette Tanouye Allerdings, who will travel to Vietnam to purchase authentic clothes for the cast, and the set and lights are being designed by Lloyd “Sandy” Riford, who just won a Po‘okela Award for his designs for last season’s Paliku children’s production The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Tickets for Miss Saigon are $30 for Adults, $26 for Seniors 62+, Military and UH Faculty and Staff, and $20 for students through age 26. (The show uses adult language and may not be appropriate for younger children.) Groups of 10 or more adults are eligible for a special price. Palikū Theatre is located on the campus of Windward Community College in Kaneohe, at the top of Kea’ahala Road, mauka of Kahekili Highway.
