Heeia Stream Water Quality Monitoring

Site 4: Halaulani Street

Our fourth sampling site is close to the Punawai Wastewater Pumping Station just off Halaulani Street. It is a natural bottom, natural stream bank area that is shaded by trees. Vegetation in the area is predominately alien with a few native trees and plants. Tahitian prawns, Bronze catfish, Mosquito fish, Cray fish and large Koi have been observed in the area, even feral pigs.

The water temperature slightly drops from the previous site as does the dissolved oxygen concentration and pH. Average Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels are slightly above ordinary tap water levels.
