Conductivity is a measure of the presence of
dissolved solids such as chloride, nitrate, sulfate, phosphate, sodium, magnesium,
calcium, and iron. All of the Kapaa sites demonstrated high values of conductivity.
Pollution from clearing land near a stream, and overuse of fertilizer can
all cause the water conductivity to increase, indicating high levels of dissolved
solids.
